Understanding the person, not just the symptoms
Physical and emotional health are deeply connected. Experiences of trauma can influence how people respond to stress, experience symptoms, engage with treatment and navigate their health and wellbeing.
Yet the emotional experiences that may be relevant to a person's health are not always visible within a conventional assessment.
Heart Felt Trauma Assessment System (HFTAS) is being developed to help bridge that gap.
Using AI-enabled analysis and the principles of Felt Trauma®, HFTAS is designed to explore emotional experiences and patterns, bringing together insights that may help professionals develop a more complete understanding of the person in front of them.
Watch how HFTAS works
A short introduction to the assessment process, the insights HFTAS is designed to provide, and how these may support a more informed, whole-person approach to care.
From assessment to insight

Complete the assessment
The individual is guided through a structured assessment designed to explore emotional experiences, responses and patterns.

Identify relevant insights
HFTAS uses AI-enabled analysis to explore the information provided and identify patterns that may be relevant to the person's emotional experience.

Generate a structured report
The system is being developed to bring together key insights, including Trauma Age, core emotional messaging, and an indication of severity and complexity.

Support a more complete understanding
The report is intended to provide additional information that professionals can consider alongside their existing assessments, clinical findings and professional judgement.

Looking beyond the presenting condition
For some people, unresolved trauma may be one of several factors influencing their physical or mental health. Understanding that wider context may help healthcare professionals ask different questions, recognise relevant patterns and consider whether additional support or a different approach to care may be appropriate.
HFTAS is being developed to make that emotional context more accessible, supporting a more individualised understanding of the person rather than focusing solely on the presenting condition.
Its potential applications extend beyond therapy to include wider healthcare, mental health services, research and other settings where understanding emotional experience may be relevant.
Supporting professional judgement
HFTAS is not a diagnostic tool and is not intended to replace medical assessment, clinical judgement or the therapeutic relationship.
It is being developed as an additional source of insight that may support professionals in understanding the wider context of a person's health and wellbeing.
The system is currently in development, with further research and evaluation planned to establish its clinical relevance, usability and potential applications.
